Sacrifice, or Qorbanot, was used for certain, specific sins, but was never the sole route to atonement. It was also used as a way of drawing closer to G-d, because it acted as a way of focusing the attention of the person making the offering.

The first-born of the flock would have been viewed as especially valuable, simply by dint of being the first born. http://www.jewfaq.org/

While Abraham sacrificed some of his flock to God in worship periodically, he was not under Jewish Law. The Law was given on Mount Sinai some 720 years later. But Abraham carried n the practice of sacrifice taught to Adam after he was cast out of the Garden of Eden for his sin.

Abraham was told by God to sacrifice Issac his son on the altar, which he obeyed to go to perform. Yet God stopped him, stating that he would bless Abraham for not holding back, but showed obedience and willingness to give his "only son." This act of sacrifice ultimately is a picture of God's love to us in giving His only Son to die for our sins, a perfect sacrifice.

While Abraham had large flocks, there is no mention of him sacrificing the first born from his flocks. That was a later requirement of the Law.

How can you introduce a baby chick to a flock of bantams?

Depending on the age of the bird to be introduced and the size of the flock that it is to be introduced to will determine appropriate methods of introduction of your new fowl. Poultry do have a pecking order ( hierarchy) but fortunately have a short memory therefore the larger the flock the easier it is to introduce a new bird. Always introduce the bird early in the day and a time when you will be available to observe the other fowls behaviour. At first your new bird will be harassed by the other residents but within a few hours your flock will be one bird larger.
