"...THERE WAS A FAMINE IN THE LAND: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for THE FAMINE WAS GRIEVOUS IN THE LAND." (Gen.12:10)
This journey to Egypt in the midst of a great famine would be repeated by his grandson, Jacob and his family, later, when his son, Joseph [whom he thought to be dead], ruled there. (Gen.41-46)
Genesis chapter 12
He called out in the name of the Lord (Genesis ch.12), meaning that he taught the idolaters about the One God.
Abram was 75 years old in Gn 12:1-9 and doesn't tell his age until later in the Bible.
Genesis 1 and 2: God created the heavens and the Earth, and Adam and Eve Genesis 3: Adam and Eve sin and cause the fall of man. The first messianic prophecy is made. (he will strike your head and you will strike his heal) Genesis 4: Cain kills Abel Genesis 6-8: God instructs Noah to build and ark and floods the earth. Genesis 9: God makes a covenant with Noah to never flood the Earth again. Genesis 11: a few generations after Noah, the people of the world try to build the Tower of Babel and God stops them by giving everyone different languages and causing them to spread out. Genesis 12: God calls Abram, and Abram gets his wife Sarai to lie for him in Egypt. Genesis: 13-14: Abram separates from his nephew Lot and when war finds Lot, Abram rescues him. Genesis 15: Abram makes a covenant with God, where God promises Abram an heir, and makes a prophecy. Genesis16: Abram sleeps with Hagar at Sarai's request and Ishmael is born. Genesis 17: God changes Abram's name to Abraham and they make the covenant of circumcision. Genesis 18: Three visitors arrive that promise Abraham a son. Abraham pleads on behalf of the righteous in Sodom. Genesis 19: Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed, but God saves Lot. Lot's wife is turned into a pillar of salt. Genesis 20: Abraham gets Sarah to pretend to be his sister again and is rebuked by Abimelech. Genesis 21: Isaac is born.

There was Pharaoh of Egypt (No specific name given) who took her into his palace and gave Abram many gifts because of Sarai. Genesis 12:10-20 And there was also King Abimeleh (Genesis 20- the whole chapter) this happened after their names were changed to Abraham and Sarah.
Abram lived in Ur of the Chaldeans, which is in Mesopotamia. He later moved to Haran, before eventually settling in Canaan as instructed by God.
