Medusa and Poseidon (the god of the seas, horses, etc) had sex in one of Athena's temples, which angered Athena.
Medusa was a priestess in Athena's temple. But once Poseidon made love to her in the temple which enraged Athena, so she turned her and her sisters into the three gorgons.

EDIT: Poseidon raped her.

no..... Medusa and Poseidon were having an affair in Athena's temple and Athena got mad so she turned Medusa into a hideous creature.

Yes, Medusa was cursed from the goddess called Athena. Athena got jealous from medusa's beauty because everyone wanted Medusa. Athena decided to curse Medusa. Now Medusa is a monster and has snakes for hair, Medusa got cursed so badly that Athena made the curse that if anyone looks at medusa will turn to stone. This teaches every god not to ever look at Medusa's face and or never to get interested in her.

Athena turned Medusa into a monster with snakes for hair. Whenever someone looked at Medusa after she was cursed, they would be turned to stone. Athena did this to Medusa because Medusa was one of Poseidon's lovers and they one day met in Athena's temple.

Medusa is a female character from the Greek mythology. It is said to turn onlookers to stone. Medusa never had a husband. According to the Greek Myth, she was a beautiful maiden once and served as priestess to the goodness of wisdom, Athena. Athena turned her into a Monster, when she learned of her affair with the god of the Sea, Poesidon. Athena cursed her (not cursed her out) meaning she cast a spell on Medusa. Yup Medusa was cursed into an ugly woman but before she was considered hot.

Athena was the one that cursed Medusa. She caught Medusa, then a beautiful sea nymph, meeting with Poseidon in one of her temples. Medusa was said to be beautiful before she was cursed by Athena. Afterward, she had snakes as hair and was portrayed as a hideous monster.
