Besides being political, provocative, rather large and of course brilliant, his art was placed in highly visible places. Even though he is 'anonymous', I'm sure he's done some effective P.R.( besides stenciling public spaces) in the way of press releases, website promotion, resumes and such.Since Banksy made the lifesize stencil famous (even though he ripped off his Rat image from an older French artist without crediting him) no one can stencil their town without now being said to have been influenced by the famous Banksy. Actually, after seeing the work of Banksy, I will no longer try to fool myself into thinking I was ever a clever artist. So I have stopped making art and now spend my free time on "4Chan" and "/b/", now that's art!
Banksy's work may be the most famous street art in the world, but the man who inspired him to first take out his stencils and spray paints in the dead of night was Richard Hambleton. Known as the 'Godfather of Street Art', the Canadian first made his mark in the Seventies painting chalk outlines with red blood across numerous North American cities.
Only Banksy himself could answer this, and he is not giving interviews over the internet.

The future of graffiti is bright. The UK just passed Banksy's law, Kaws is designing album art for Kanye West, and Elite Gudz exhibited e=MC3 at Comic Con 2010. The future of graffiti is in fine art, toy design, clothing, comics, skateboards, music, anything you can imagine - and, of course, walls.
That depends. Some graffiti (e.g. Sheperd Fairey, Banksy) is meant to be art, and it can definitely be considered art. But a person's nickname in bubble letters on the side of a building is not art at all. yes it is quit hating.

Bansky might be in the news because his graffiti might be shown there and maybe people are trying to find out who he is because, no matter what, graffiti is illegal and the police might be searching for him. Also Banksy says what he wants to say which means that he might be doing rude or bad graffiti.
