The Boston Massacre happened because a lot of colonists began to throw rocks and snow balls at the Redcoats. One of the soldiers called for backup and more soldiers came. The leader of the group shouted "Hold your fire!" one of the men only heard "Fire!" thus making him think that he should shoot his gun. The other men thought they should shoot to because he shot his gun..... it was a misunderstanding.
A group of colonist civilians surrounded nine British soldiers and started thowing things at them. One soldier paniked and shot into the crowd, the rest started shooting as well. After the shooting stopped, five colonists were killed and six were wounded.
The Boston Massacre started because the Redcoats (British troops) were in front of the building where they collected the taxes for King George the Third. A crowd formed and surrounded the few British troops. The crowd threatened them, telling them, "Fire! Fire! I dare you!" among other things. It was also a cold, snowy night, and the colonists threw snowballs at the troops. One of the British troops was whacked with a club. Another British troop fired, thinking it was a command from the commander. And that's how the Boston Massacre started.
On March 5, 1770, British troops opened fire into a crowd killing five colonists in Boston, Massachusetts. This action later became known as the "Boston Massacre." The crowd had gathered in disagreement over the Stamp Act, which taxed all legal or printed documents and put the prices up.
