Great Britain divided its colony along religious lines, but this division created a country-Pakistan-composed of two halves separated by hundreds of miles. East Pakistan felt that it had no real power in Pakistan's government, so it broke away and became Bangladesh.

What country did India win its independence from and in what year?

India won its independence most recently from Britain in 1947. India was formly a part of the subcontinent, under the British empire. when the Britisher left they divided the sub-continent into Pakistan and India according to the religious distribution. So the Hindu majority ares were given to India and the Muslim majority areas were given to Pakistan. So Pakistan became the first country in the world who gained independence on the basis of ideology. Israel is now the only second one. Pakistan became an independent country on 14th August, 1947 and India on 15th of August. In 1971 Pakistan then divided again into Bangladesh and the present Pakistan. Kashmir is a disputed territory between he two countries whose affiliation between either of the country has yet to be decided.

Why did Pakistan seperate from India?

Pakistan was formed because the Muslims didnt think they had a future in India......they thought they would be mistrated as they were in a minority(not because Muhammed Ali Jinnah wanted to be first PM of India if he did when Pakistan was created he would have become the prime minister of Pakistan but he didnt want to he wanted to be the governer generalBecause the Muslims became in a minority and as the world became more democratic they knew that hindus would be in power and worried about there rights so Muhammed Ali Jinnah decided to create Pakistan which would consist of the provinces of India where Muslims were in majority.Which now formed Punjab sindh,balochistan,Khyber-Pakthunkwa,East Pakistan(present day Bangladesh)and Kashmir,Today India and Pakistan dispute over kashmir because rightfully it was theres there was a Muslim majority but a Hindu ruler who wanted to stay with India

When did Britain lose Bangladesh?

The question is wrong. Britain did never lose Bangladesh. Actually British Indian subcontinent was under the umbrella of British imperialism uptill 1947; and Bangla desh was only an eastern province of sub-continent. Britain divided subcontinent into two parts named Pakistan and India in 1947. Pakistan comprised five provinces inclusive of Eastern Bangal while the province of West Bengal was included in India. Bangladesh was called East Pakistan from 1947 to 1971. During this period, Bangladesh formed a part of Pakistan's federation. In result of a prolonged Civil war caused by frustration, political instability, resentment and because being in severe state of desperation toward Pakistan, there broke out open war between both wings of then united Pakistan. It resulted in the separation of East Pakistan on 17 Dec. 1971. In the aftermath, it became independent and renamed itself Bangladesh. Actually Bangladesh got independence from Pakistan not from Britain.
