Mahatma Gandhi opposed British rule because it was unfair to the people and there were unreasonably high taxes and prices. People, especially untouchables, were looked down upone. Indian people were forbade to trade w/ any other nation, and Suttee was outlawed. Plus, many other reasons.
Because the British were trying to take over India and they left no right over their country. Now Gandhi wanted to let them no that they were not right so he Gathered up his community and fought against him in a very non-violent way. He chose to let them know using just plain english....." this is our territory and it's not showing respect just to barge in here....we will share our land but don't take it's right away from us.".....and he said it politely. Gandhi solved maters
Because Gandhi believed that Nazi Germany was not a threat to Europe because he thought he alone could diffuse the situation.
Gandhi wrote a letter addressed to Hitler, starting with the line "To my dear friend". The letter asked Hitler not to go to war with Europe.
However, of course, Hitler did invade his neighbours, hence triggering World War 2, so Gandhi was wrong when he believed he could stop the war peacefully.
Also, due to Hitler's beliefs of a "pure race", Gandhi would have been disposed of if the Nazi's won the war, because he is not "blonde-haired and blue eyed".
His patience and fight for freedom for his country
British hated gandhi as he fought for independence.
To reduce the sufferings of his fellow Indians, to fight for their freedom
He sought peaceful ways to oppose British authorities. Gandhi advocated civil disobedience and passive resistance to British rule. A famous instance involved the sale of salt. The British gave a company a monopoly licence for the sale of salt, and made it illegal for anyone else to supply salt. Of course the monopoly situation resulted in prices rising so high that poor Indians could scarcely afford to purchase any. Gandhi led thousands of Indians on the famous Salt March to make salt at Dandi, in defiance of the ban. In spite of arrests, this campaign was one of his most successful.
