From June to August Britain was fighting "Pontiac's War". This ended with the Battle of Bushy Run when British forces under Henry Bouquet defeated Chief Pontiac's Indians.

In general America was a British colony that required protection from the indigenous peoples and the French to the north and the Spanish to the south.
