Well, Christopher Columbus killed the Natives because they had tuns of land (North America) and they didn't want him to take it so he thought that the only way to get it is if he killed them. He also killed them bacause they had alot of stuff.
We will never really know why he did that, most believe it was because the Native Peoples refused to see him (and his culture) as superior and submit to becoming slaves under it. Those who stated things about him at the time may have put it best, quoting "he was a barbarous butcher" (NOTE: this quote is from this trial where he was convicted of "barbarism" and sentenced to prison)
To claim their land without them fighting back and so he can gain wealth and power by their gold. And enslaving them to bring back to the king and queen of Spain. Christopher Columbus was treated like a hero when he came back. At first there was about 300,000 Taino people But then he killed then so there was about only 500 left.
