he would jump in the lake ever morning and kill Aztecs for $1000000 an hour
Hernando Cortes' parents were Martin and Maria Cortes. His mother was the second cousin once removed, of Francisco Pizzaro, another conquistador. His parents had hoped he would train for a legal career but he left at age 16, to talk to sailors and conquistadors and eventually sailed to the Americas.
When Cortes got to Mexico, he tricked the Aztecs into giving him gold. They gave him plenty of gold because they hoped that they would leave. Then, Hernando Cortes heard about a new tribe coming called the Tlaxcalan. They left Tenochtitlan to capture them. They did. On their way back to Tenochtitlan, Velasquez was coming for Cortes to arrest him. They defeated them and used the remains of the armies to capture Montezuma (their King) and made him talk to the Aztecs. The Aztecs were angry and killed Montezuma. The conquistadors had a war with the Aztecs. The Aztecs lost the war and was defeated. Then Cortes left for California.
Hernando Cortes is ruthless in many ways. He is ruthless because he had no mercy on the Aztecs and his soldiers. For example when he first arrived the Aztecs treated him well because there leader Montezuma thought that the Europeans were gods. They gave him gifts such as gold. This only made Cortes more eager to find the source of the gold. This showed that he was ruthless because they thought the gold would make him happy and leave but he decided to come anyway and he showed little mercy on them. He was also ruthless to his soldiers because he ordered the ships to be sunk so his soldiers cannot turn back after Cortes decided to march inland. Cortes was then treated as a guest but he was driven out by Aztec nobles and half of his army was killed or wounded. From this Cortes decided to begin a siege of Tenochtitlan. He was ruthless to the Aztecs because he showed no mercy on them since he kept sending soldiers until most of there warriors were killed or captured. Also once Montezuma had died there was a new ruler who was the nephew of Montezuma, The new ruler named Cuauhtémoc defended the city, however Hernando Cortes still continued his ruthless ways. For instance after 3 months the city fell to Cortes. He then had Cuauhtémoc executed which is another reason why Cortes is ruthless. He could have justified his actions to conquer the Aztecs after they drove him out by killing half of his men or wounding them. Clearly Hernando Cortes was ruthless in many ways.
Cortes wanted to go to Asia but he landed in Cuba. After that he sailed east where he found the island of Cozumel. Then he went north then south to end up in Campech.after that he sail to Pontonchon down south.then he sail to San Juan de Ulua where he landed in Mexico.after that her fought against an army of 25,000 men.now Cortes had only 499 men with guns, cannons and 16 horses. When the natives he fought saw the gun power and the horses they freaked out and thought that Cortes and men were gods so they retreated. Only two of Cortes men died and about 5,000 natives died that day in the battle.after that Cortes moved up north and fought more natives. Later Cortes was given about 200,000 to 300,000 men from different native tribes. Later on in 1519, Cortes and his 300,000 men attacked the capital city of the Aztecs called Tenochtitlan. I don't know how Cortes defeated the Aztecs if the Aztecs have over 2 million men, but he did. Later on, Cortes and other Spain armies took over Peasant Day Mexico, US, Middle Americas and the whole content of South America but Brazil.
There are a couple of places where someone can find more information about Hernando Cortes. The best place to check would be the website, Library ThinkQuest.
Cortes was not a hero or a villain, he was both. Cortes killed alot of people on his road to greatness but if he did not kill the word would not be the same

His challange was trying to be a known, his success was making murals of his life's work(as he would call it).
he had some supplies like guns and food on his ship
THEY WERE A LITTLE BIT SURPRISED BUT THE AZTECS WERE EXPECTING IT because the Aztecs thought a god would attack on the day Hernando cortes showed up
=No, but Hernando Cortes did. The Aztecs believed in a god called Quetzalcoatl, who would come back to them from beyond the sea. They thought of him having pale skin and dark hair. When Cortes came in a ship and had fair skin and dark hair, they thought he was Quetzalcoatl, and immediately bowed down to him. This and Cortes' horses and weapons helped him conquer the Aztecs.=
He took over the Mexican region and created "New Spain" which would later become Mexico.
He could not know how long it would take since he wasn't exactly sure where he was going.
