From the late 1940's, Jews were hunted by the German Nazis during World War II. They were individually blamed for the defeat of Germany in World War I. Adolf Hitler, the leader of the German Nazi's, was the first to believe Jews were inferior. He believed their disloyalty should incur their deaths; they were a disgrace to him. "They do not deserve to live" would've been his easiest spoken quote concerning Jews. He also quoted that the Jews were traitors, and that their existence sickened him. He wanted them to be wiped off the planet.

The French, too, saw themselves as superior to their colonial peoples - and so on. Many (or most) white Americans, too, saw themselves as superior to negroes and native Americans. In the later part of the 19th century, all kinds of wild and woolly 'race theories' sprang up, claiming to be 'scientific'. In the 1890s many German intellectuals were convinced that German very real and substantial achievements in scholarship. science, literature, art and music were a clear indication that the Germans towered head and shoulders above other peoples.

___

What impressed Hitler and the other Nazis wasn't academic achievements; it was Germany's military might - past and potential. Like many other veterans of World War 1 he believed that Germany had been betrayed, 'stabbed in the back' by left-wing and liberal subversivess on the home front and cheated of victory. This was a 'classic' conspiracy theory, and directed against the Left - and against the Jews.
