Some did and some did not. For those Israelites who avoided the coastal plains, the reason in Judges 1:19 and 1:34 would apply. Some of the coastal Canaanites seemed too hard to conquer, and so did the Philistines, down to King David's time.

When did israelites leave mesopotamia to settle in canaan?

In The Bible,it says that God Told Abraham and his followers to leave Mesopotamia and settle in Canaan. An historical view:The term Israelites comes much later. The stories in the Old Testament were made up long after the events. Cursive writing was not invented until the 9th Century BCE, so there was little effective writing to record things before them. The Hebrews (which is the earlier word) are recorded by the Egyptians as being tribes of people they called the Habiru who were bandits and herdsmen living in the Judean Hills. This people had gained control of much of Palestine by the 8th Century BCE when the ten northern tribes of the Hebrew peoples had established a kingdom there. There is no record of them coming from Mesopotamia until the biblical accounts were put together centuries later. If talking about history rather than religion, it is better to leave the biblical (religious) account out of it

What were the sources of conflict between the plains Indians an us government?

In my view, the conflict started when the government decided that the Army's role was no longer to enforce the treaty agreements but rather to protect the "settlers" who were violating those agreements.

Who returned from Canaan with a good report?

There are two separate versions of this account in the Book of Numbers, blended together and sufficiently similar to appear to the casual reader to be just one rather complex account, but in neither story do the leaders return with an entirely good report:--In the first version: Moses dispatched the spies (Numbers 13:17b-20); the spies travelled only as far north as Hebron (in the future kingdom of Judah) (13:22-25); the spies returned and issued their report to one person (Moses), stating that the land was "flowing with milk and honey", but that the inhabitants were giants and their cities fortified (13:27-29). Caleb alone tried to encourage the Israelites to proceed with the conquest (13:30); the spies countered Caleb's claim, stating that the land was unconquerable (13:31,33). So, Caleb alone of this generation would live to enter the Promised Land (14:20-25).In the second version: Moses appointed twelve heads of tribes to scout the land, and dispatched them from the Wilderness of Paran (13:1-17a); the spies toured the entire Promised Land, "from the Wilderness of Zin to the entrance to Hamath (southern Syria)"Â (13:21); the spies returned and displayed the land's fruit, issuing their report to Moses, Aaron and all the congregation (13:25-26); The report stated that Canaan was not only unconquerable, but a "land that devours its inhabitants" (13:32-33). The Israelites refused to enter Canaan (14:1a, 2-3); Caleb and Joshua both tried to encourage the Israelites to proceed with the conquest. So, Caleb and Joshua would live to enter the Promised Land (14: 26-35).

Why did the plains Indians make shields brightly coloured?

Most were not brightly coloured since the pigments generally came from minerals (earth colours) and plants, which are generally dull. Many modern replicas and illustrations show the colours far too bright, since they use modern paints rather than authentic native pigments. See links below for images of genuine Plains shields, with typically dull colours:

What does Deuteronomy chapter 9 verse 4-5 mean?

It means in simple terms Don't think the Lord God has driven out the people of Canaan for the sake of Israel The Lord God has driven out the people of Canaan because of their wickedness and replaced them with those who are supposed to be the shining example for how people should act in relation to our Father (the house of Israel). In other words the people of Canaan were driven out for the sake of all the people around Canaan who observed the power and might of our Father and his actions, so they would surly observe and know.

What country is Canaan now?

There was no single country of Canaan in biblical times, but rather a series of city states. The West Semitic people of biblical times occupied most of what is now Israel and the Palestinian Territories, Syria, Lebanon and western Jordan. The Canaanites of the Bible mainly lived along the northern coast and the northern inland areas of Palestine, while the Hebrew people more or less lived in what is now the West Bank, although borders expanded and contracted with the fortunes of history.

Were people in Canaan herders rather than farmers?

The people known as Canaanites lived mainly in the cities and closely settled farmland areas of coastal Palestine, approximately north of present-day Tel Aviv. The Philistines lived in the coastal areas to the south. The Canaanites were crop farmers and appeared to have eaten pork regularly, because domestic pigs can be farmed more intensively than sheep and cattle.Sheep and cattle were more commonly herded in the dry hinterland areas, settled by the Hebrew people, although crops were also grown, especially in the north.

Strictly speaking, no. Platypuses are found living in burrows dug in the banks of freshwater creeks and rivers. The surrounding environment is usually either bushland or rainforest, rather than open plains.

Why did the powers of the Ark of the covenant not always work for the Israelites?

The powers of the Ark of the Covenant did not always work for the Israelites because they believed that the Ark itself held magical powers, rather than understand that it symbolized the presence of God. They sometimes relied on the physical object rather than having a genuine faith and obedience towards God, which led to their failure in harnessing its powers. Additionally, the Israelites' disobedience and sinful behavior can be seen as a reason for the ineffectiveness of the Ark's powers.
