Catholic AnswerJesus is using all due respect and love for His mother. She plays a very important part in the economy of salvation. After all, we would not have been saved were it not for her "Fiat" at the Annunciation, when the Archangel, Gabriel, asked her to bear the Son of God, and she replied, "Fiat" - Be it done to me according to your word. She is replacing Eve, who as mother of the entire human race, gave us only sin and death. Mary, in her humble obedience, is granting to the entire human race grace and salvation. Jesus acknowledges this role for her, and gives her to all of us, through the apostle, John, as our mother. She is the "woman" who gives the world its Savior who will crush the head of Satan (Gen. 3:15). Remember that the language you are reading in The Bible is a translation of another language that is recording a culture that is over twenty centuries removed from our own. You can not color the word "woman" with the way it is used on the television in the twenty-first century and expect to understand what Jesus is saying.

Jesus never called mother Mary his mother because he is a god and God don't have mother but we human have mother and she is mother Mary in whome the word of God become flesh. But it doesn't mean you can't ask mother Mary to pray for you. We can ask mother Mary to pray for us as we ask other person to pray for us but their is a big difference between some other person and mother Mary because mother Mary is the only one who is without sin and the only one in which the word of God become flesh and after all it's your and my mother too and very close to Jesus and if she ask something for you to Jesus , Jesus can't say no to mother Mary like in the same way when Jesus do his first merical before time

Why is Mary called the Blessed Virgin Mary?

Our Blessed Mother, Mary is full of grace for many reasons. Of all humans after the Fall from grace of Adam and Eve, Mary alone was the only person born without the stain of original sin. This was allowed byGod Almighty in preparation for choosing her to be the Mother of Jesus, Mary still had a choice when the angel appeared to her at the Annunciation, and then she agrred to accept to be the woman that would become the Mother of the Living God. Again she was filled with grace as the shadow of the Holy Spirit came over her to plant the seed that would become Jesus. Next came the acceptance of Joseph in faith and obedience to be her spouse, the earthly"Father" of Jesus and protector of Mary and Jesus. Mary lived by faith her whole life, and faith is a given grace, not an intellectual choice. She was the Mother, but was taught by her Son. Her final grace while still on this earth was the Assumption.Rather than the cold of the grave, she was assumed into Heaven, there to be crowned Queen of Heaven. We also believe Mary to be "ever Vigin" Spotless before birth and pure for all eternity
