Louisiana became the 18th state of the United States on April 30, 1812. The statehood was made possible by a historical event known as the Louisiana Purchase which happened in 1803. During the event, the United States under President Jefferson, paid fifteen million dollars to Napoleon Bonaparte, emperor of France, for the area known as Louisiana. The famous French explorer La Salle named Louisiana after King Louis XIV of France in 1682.

There was some disagreement between Spain and the United States regarding the boundaries of Louisiana. The boundaries were not defined in the treaty of 1762 that ceded Louisiana to Spain by the French, the treaty of 1800 that allowed France to reclaim the territory, and the treaty for the purchase by the United States. The Territory of New Orleans was also claimed by Spain. The problem was finally resolved by the Adam-Onis Treaty of 1819.Originally, the United States government was only interested in New Orleans and was prepared to pay up to ten million dollars for it. They were caught by surprise when Napoleon's offer to sell the entire Territory of Louisiana was conveyed to Robert Livingston by the Foreign Minister of France. Fearing that the opportunity of getting New Orleans would be lost, the United States accepted the offer and on April 30, 1803, the purchase treaty was signed. The United States was represented by Robert Livingston and James Monroe who later became the fifth President of the United States. France was represented by Barb-Marbois. The United States used three million dollars worth of gold and twelfth million dollars in bonds to pay for the purchase. In 1804, the area acquired as the result of the Louisiana Purchase was divided into the territory of New Orleans and the District of Louisiana. W.C.C Clairborne was appointed as the first Governor of New Orleans. On July 4, 1805, the District of Louisiana became a Territory. On April 30,1812, the Territory of New Orleans was admitted to the Union as the State of Louisiana. To avoid confusion, the Territory of Louisiana was renamed the Territory of Missouri on June 4, 1812.

Louisiana joined the union because the then president of the U.S. promised to do something, (although he didn't know what) about the mosquito population in the territory, which was later to become a State. It was a good idea, and the residents went for it wholeheartedly because they were suffering badly because of the insect. People could be seen running down the streets with swarms of mosquitos, misqueetoes, however you spell it, chasing them, like small black clouds trailing behind people's heads... that is, if they could run fast enough, otherwise, well, you can imagine..... Eventually, because of the hopes that came along with joining the union of getting rid of these pests, Louisiana became a state, and when it was found out the U.S. could really do nothing... Louisiana decided to start the Civil War. Of course, this was just a convenient way of disguising that the war was really an example of Northern Aggression. This is part of the real history of the U.S., the greatest country on the planet, and why right now, our bankers are showing the world that we can lead the world over the edge and into the abyss if we feel like it, which is exactly what we are doing... you see how powerful we are? So, like Louisiana, which eventually got real, the whole world must now join the ranks of the reality seekers. We will be able to show them, just as we ignored the plight of the people in New Orleans, after the flood, we will ignore the devastation our bankers are causing the populous of the entire world. That isn't to say there aren't a few good, honest bankers around... there are, three of them, one in Pasqualuqua, Maine, where no newspaper has been delivered since 1941, and two in undisclosed locations because the rest of the bankers in our country have hired hit men to take them out. Where did it take us... the joining of Louisiana to this nation of the bold, the brave, and the brash rapacious bankers... where we are today.. and THAT is where we are.
