The Spanish were initially considered messengers from the Incan gods, and impressed the natives. However, Atahualpa, the Incan ruler, had as many as 80,000 warriors to the Spanish 200, and refused to relinquish his throne. Unfortunately, his men were no match for the superior arms of the conquistadors and Atahualpa was captured in the Battle of Cajamarca (November 16, 1532). Most of his hierarchy were killed, and as many as 6000 warriors. Although his people paid his ransom in gold and silver, Pizarro had him executed anyway. When the city of Cuzco was taken in 1533, the Spanish rule of the Incan civilization was established.

Pizarro and his men brought Smallpox from Spain, a disease that the Inca weren't familiar with. This disease caused a lot of deaths. Also, the weapons that the Inca had were only good for hunting. Even though their weapons were deadly they were no match for what the Spaniards brought. Another reason is that Pizarro made an alliance with many smaller Inca groups. He convinced them to help overthrow the Inca government.

Pizarro was a Spanish conquistador that came upon the Inca empire and its riches in gold. Pizarro set out to destroy the power of the Incas by kidnapping the Inca leader and killing them. The Incas had to put many other Native American tribes under their control to become an empire. With their weapons and the help of the Tribes against the Incas, Pizarro was able to crumble their empire.
