- It was not feared by the Germans until the Russians start fighting back and until that point the Germans had not come up against much opposition.but when Russia fought,they fought with the same determination as the Germans fought with.the Germans fought with cruelty and savagery.but when they seen russia doing to them what they had been doing to the rest of Europe they got scared.if Hitler left his military operations alone and let his generals get on with there job without his interferance,the Russian campaign would not have continued.it was a pointless campaign that caused millions of lives.
