Siddhartha's father, King Shuddodana only wanted the best for his son. He had bought 3 palaces for him, one for the winter, rainy season, and summer. Shuddodana gave him everything he could ever have wanted, only so that Siddhartha would never have to go through suffering himself, or see anyone else in that state.
He used the Indian formula, marriage. So that the person will get entangled in life. He also provided all luxuries to Siddhartha, so that he might not think of going away.
so Siddhartha didn't learn about suffering
He was a prince destined to become either a great king or a greater spiritual leader. To keep him from seeing suffering and keep him from becoming a spiritual leader, his father hid him from suffering. He was unsuccessful, however, and Siddhartha was moved to try and stop human suffering. He left home and became an aesthetic, beginning his journey to enlightenment.
