If you mean the now "new Roman Missal" the reason for it was so that the Latin that is translated is now a more exact translation to the English. This hopefully makes us understand the Mass more, and help us get into what is actually going on.

Many older Catholics who grew up in the Church before Vatican II feel the Mass has been desecrated and turned into little more than a Protestantized social gathering. The solemnity, mystery, beauty and the sacredness of the Catholic sacred worship has been turned into a ridiculous sing along which shows little honor to Our Lord. The universality of the Latin Mass has been replaced with Mass in the vernacular. The organ has been silenced, replaced by Guitars and drums. Folk Music replaces the beautiful Gregorian Chants. Sermons teaching Catholic doctrine have been replaced with homilies that tell us nothing but meaningless fluff. People look for spiritual guidance from their priests and bishops find nothing and turn to other sects and cults. Those raised after Vatican II will never understand what they have had taken from them and never experience the life of a true Catholic community that their parents and grandparents loved.

The Second Vatican Council, itself, did not change the Mass. The Second Vatican Council, as you can read for yourself in the constitution on the Sacred Liturgy (at the link below) called for a "general reform of the sacred liturgy" but specifically noted:

"For the liturgy is made up of unchangeable elements divinely instituted, and of elements subject to change. These latter not only may be changed but ought to be changed with the passage of time, if they have suffered from the intrusion of anything out of harmony with the inner nature of the liturgy or have become less suitable."

It then goes into great detail on the incredible care that should be exercised when touching the Sacred Liturgy, and issues norms to that effect. The actual changes in the Liturgy were made by Archbishop Bugnini and put into effect by Pope Paul VI, who subsequently excommunicated Archbishop Bugnini as a Freemason. Please see the second link below for more information on Archbishop Bugnini and his travesty.

Why are the upcoming new changes in the Roman Missal of the Catholic Church really needed?

Roman Catholic AnswerThere were NO changes in the Roman Missal. There are changes in the English translation of the Roman Missal, and, yes, those were sorely needed. The previous translation was know as "dynamic equivalence": which means that the translators used an expression in English that they thought was "equivalent" to the Latin meaning - it was NOT a translation. In many cases, their equivalent was not even close to the Latin. One glaring example that I noticed as a first year college seminarian way back then was they translated the Latin word, "Credo" (which begins the Creed) as "We believe". Sometimes, as in the Collect for the Memorial of St. Theresa of Avila whole phrases were simply omitted! Their "translation" was based on their theology and their view of the world. Unfortunately, although the Church is infallible when She issues a liturgy, translators are not.

Do Roman Catholic people sing in Church?

Roman Catholic AnswerYes, the Roman Rite has always been built around song, although in years past, Low Mass (a totally spoken Mass with no music) became the norm. The new Missal which was issued for Advent 2011 contains more music directly in the Missal than any other Missal in 2000 years of history.
