Actually Vietnam wasn't a true country there was south vietname and north vietnam the south was with France and then america joined that side, and north vietnam was with Soviet Union and communist china. The Vietnamese didnt support the us because the us joined in the war supporting the south vietnamese. Hope that answered the question
