So, they could build a fort where the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers meet to form the Ohio River. They needed to try to "escavate" or search for the French forts.
Washington and his troops were the first to bring on the war. When they were in their fort, they spotted some French people searching, and they killed them. Later, the French surrounded the British and told them to surrender. Washington said "Never," and that is what started the French and Indian War.
