England's Protestant citizens were unhappy with the actions of James II, the Catholic king. James II had given jobs in government to Catholic citizens. Many English citizens were opposed to the Catholic religion and were against offering political equality to Catholics. Many Protestants and Anglicans feared that England would become a Catholic state, so they arranged to remove James II and replace him with William of Orange, an outsider.
