Are you asking about William the Conqueror? Well, his was the last successful invasion of England, and as the new king of England, he put in place a new type of feudalism which began the long journey of European monarchism towards Absolutism. While absolutism is seen in a bad light, a better way to put it would be that he centralized much of the political power on him and his capital, which I believe was in Normandy (France) He basically recreated feudalism so that each lord would be loyal to him, and not to the lord above him/her, as in France and Germany. He also worked to codify taxes and even created something similar to a census, the "Doomsday book". His conquest brought reforms to the Isles: Religious, linguistic, cultural, etc, from France/the Continent.
