Why did bungie stop making halo?

When Microsoft bought Bungie they also bought Halo, and so when Bungie split from Microsoft they no longer had the rights to make the games. But Microsoft still wanted Halo games so they had Bungie make Halo 3, ODST and Reach, this is also the reason why Ensemble Studios was allowed to make Halo Wars, Microsoft 'chose' them to make a Halo game. Now Bungie are done with Halo and are working on a new IP for Activision, but again, Microsoft still wants more Halo games, so they created 343 Industries to hold the responsibility of future Halo projects.

So Bungie could concentrate on a new multi-platform IP (Intellectual Property) in cooperation with Activision Blizzard (the companies that created several past Star Trek games like Elite Force and Armada; and Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft franchises, respectivily of course). Halo will passed over to 343 Industries, an internal studio of Microsoft, as Halo is a Microsoft IP, owned by the big M, but this does not mean that Bungie wouldn't collaborate with Microsoft on future Halo titles. It's just that Reach is the last one Bungie are doing for the forseeable future.

Bungie and Microsoft had a ten year deal in 2000. Ten years is up, they lost the right to halo but gained the right to explore other consoles other then xbox.

Because bungie said they have done 10 years of halo. They also said it has been a good run. so i think they might make a new marathon series or a new myth.

But Microsoft might ask another company to make another halo im not sure.
