The Jones Act, also known as the Jones Law, the Philippine Autonomy Act and the Act of Congress of August 29, 1916, was passed by the United States Congress. It acted as a constitution of the Philippines and created the first fully elected Philippine legislature.

The Philippines would be able to elect their legislature, however the governor would be appointed by the US congress. The Jones act of 1916 extended the Philippine Government Act by allowing the people of the Philippines the right to vote for all bodies of government.
