When Thomas Jefferson included a passage attacking slavery in his draft of the Declaration of Independence it initiated the most intense debate among the delegates gathered at Philadelphia in the spring and early summer of 1776. Jefferson's passage on slavery was the most important section removed from the final document. It was replaced with a more ambiguous passage about King George's incitement of "domestic insurrections among us."
It never was in the Declaration, but the constitution. The Declaration was an open letter to the king giving the reasons why the colonies were declaring independence. There is almost 10 years difference in when they were written and slavery really wasn't an issue in 1789. A majority of the men writing the constitution were slave owners and were only concerned about the population of slaves in southern states. It was an issue of political power between smaller and larger states.
It was hypocritical, because Jefferson had slaves of his own.

Its only as valuable as what someone would pay for it. Put it in an auction setting and sell it like that. Or take it to a museum and get it appraised.
