Our forefathers were hemp farmers. As you know when partaking of the good herb, it slows down your mental processes. It seems like it was hard to get a quorum of those who were not buzzed. However, just like today, you get your best ideas when baked. Mary Jane
There was a lot of uncertainly about whether the 13 colonies really wanted to form a confederacy of any sort, or whether they would be better off as independent states, as well as having serious questions about what terms would be acceptable to all 13 colonies, which of course were very different in terms of their cultures and values, especially concerning the divisive issue of slavery (which was to split the country, several decades later).

the articles of confederation and the constitution are both the same because they both are written and the difference is that they tell different things. and i dont know but i just wanted to do something so i took a long shot at it
The Articles of Confederation created a very weak federal government. After being ruled by Britain for so long, the last thing the colonists wanted was a government that reflected a monarchy. The Articles of Confederation failed to give government many different powers, including the power to tax and the power to build an army. Many saw the problems associated with the Articles of Confederation through lack of revenue and the absence of a strong military to quash rebellions that were becoming common.
After a long and heated battle between the Federalists and Anti-Federalists over the Constitution versus the Articles of Confederation and the inclusion of the Bill of Rights, a Constitution was written and ratified by all 13 colonies.

The Articles of Confederation was the document that established the 13 independent, soverign states: the original 13 colonies. It also set up a "stepping-stone" to the Constitution. :)Niceguymike

It's complicated. There's only one US Constitution, and in it, the President serves four year terms. However, what you are probably asking about is the Articles of Confederation, which are sort of like a Constitution. Under the Articles of Confederation, no term length is specified for the "President of the Continental Congress". Each president served until they resigned or until a new president was elected by the Congress. It should be noted, however, that the President of the Continental Congress was a totally separate position, unrelated to what we now call the President. The PotCC was a largely ceremonial position that had almost no power; the position vaguely resembled the modern position of Speaker of the House. There was no equivalent to the modern presidency under the Articles.
Madison, along with a core of men, was involved in the very start of the revolution. The revolution was produced by a group of men who interacted with each other to create a nation. He wasn't involved in the revolution and since 1776 had taken part in VA government as much as he was involved in the creation of the constitution and the Bill Of Rights. He was all ready in Congress when the convention was called. In a letter to Washington he had outlined the most important points that were to be debated in the convention. He had studied the different republics and wrote long essays comparing governments. He was ready to create a constitution.
