Because you have taken opiates shortly (3-5 days) before your test. Sometimes, a false-positive can occur after eating poppyseed bagels. I watched a special on that on the show "Myth Busters" on the Discovery Channel.

One of the panels tests specifically tor opiates. If you have a script from your doctor you will present it to the MRO. If you do not have a script, and have taken someone Else's pills for whatever reason- Pain, discomfort, soreness, or recreation- it won't make a difference to the mro. You must have a script. If you worried about peeing "dirty" I would suggest going to a head shop- trust me theirs one in your area wherever you live- purchase synthetic urine. DO NOT USE HERBAL CLEANSER OR OTHER PRODUCTS!!!!!! UR-N-LUCK works and other synthetics work. Make sure it is at the proper temp before going into test- most have temp gauge on side of bottle. As a little assurance you can use a cooks thermometer in the car. Hand warmers usually will heat and keep at temp for awhile. If you have heated seats in your car those a great for heating and transport.

The obvious question is: Are you taking methadone? Also it is very rare to be tested for methadone as it is an "OPIOID" NOT AND "OPIATE" an opioid is a SYNTHETIC opiate not an opiate. Thus they would specifically need to be testing for methadone. That is pretty rare, But it is completely possible just not common! Most of time you will not be tested for methadone, I am on misdemeanor probation and even the STATE does not test for methadone. Put it is entirely possible and not at all implausible I also do not know the reason for which the analysis is being administered so I can't say either way I just have to take your word for it. Lets get back to WHY? As I said Methadone is a class of drugs called Opioids as mentioned they are synthetic opiates and will NOT show up if being tested for OPIATES. You need to think about what you are consuming, Are you taking any medications? Look up your medications! There are MANY opioid medications one that comes to mind rite away "tramadol" it may be prescribed in some instances and more than likely will be prescribed to avoid giving a patient OPIATES although opioids are highly addictive like opiates there may be some cause to suspect someone is less likely to abuse these types of medicines because they are not what doctors sometimes call "THE FUN DRUGS" or drugs that addicts seek to get "HIGH" so they may be prescribed to avoid abuse although it is still likely and possible for these medications to be abused but they are not as sought after as such drugs like oxycodone for example. So first thing you should do is think, what medications am I taking? Look ALL of them up! It never hurts to be educated on what you're putting into your body it is actually a great idea to be educated it can help reduce the risks of overdose and mixing with certain medications that should not be taken with each other. If you have dont all of this and still just can't figure out WHY THE HECK DO I HAVE METHADONE/OPIOIDS IN MY SYSTEM!!?? I suggest you go on your own to a drug testing lab and have your urine or blood tested and ask them for the number of "methadone metabolites" this is a number that will tell a person how much of this substance is in that sample. Continue to get these tests 1-2 times per week until you have successfully seen a totally negative result. Meaning 0 metabolites for methadone.

This is what comes to mind rite now. I am NOT a doctor nor do I have any REAL training. I study ON MY OWN medications because I am going to become a pharmacist and then a chemical engineer. I AM ON METHADONE I do NOT know everything about methadone but I have picked up somethings in the last 3years being on it. I suggest you stay far far a way from opiates and opioids they are extremely addictive and will totally run your life i promise! STAY AWAY PLEASE I BEG YOU! No addict will ever tell you that being physically dependent is "FUN" IT IS NOT FUN!!!!! Thats my two cents and my rant about staying away from narcotics. Just trust me they have done nothing but make my life harder! If you are in pain I promise Advil ibuprofen etc is totally the way too go! Believe me on that one! I hope someday somebody can find this information useful and even more so I hope someday somebody thinking about using opioids or opiates reads this and changes their mind and stay away. Trust me it is NOT worth it please please please stay away from it! You think you wont get addicted BUT YOU WILL! I thought I was invincible...boy was I WRONG! It gets a hold of you FAST and you wont even realize it until its way too late. Withdrawals are THE WORST FEELING EVER imagine holding your breath and when you get that feeling that you just have too take a breath again and you cant bear to hold your breath any longer...That is just ONE feeling of a withdrawal then add in the diarrhea the feeling that you just want to JUMP OUT OF YOUR SKIN you are cold one second hot the next your cold and hot and the same time your cold and sweating you can not sleep. I am telling you please believe me ITS THE WORST FEELING IN THE WORLD IT IS LITERALLY HELL ON EARTH!

Poppyseed bagels, since opiates come from the poppy plant. I saw it in an episode of Myth Busters, and it does indeed cause a false positive for opiates.

Can imodium cause false positive for benzodiazapines?

No ... Immodium can cause a false positive for opiates since it is an opiate derived drug. If you're taking a test ..i would recommend before to let the tester know that you've suffered from a bought of diarrhea and have consumed immodium and exactly when and how much you've consumed. Dependent upon the type of test ...they will be able to tell that it is not an illicit drug causing a positive for opiates. But you will not test false positive for benzos

Would carbamazepine naproxen and cycobenzaprine and tremadol give a positive reading on a urinalisis for opiates?

Tramadol is not an opiate. It is an opioid, which is a synthetic opiate. It will not show up on a basic drug test. Naproxen will not give a false result for opiates on a drug test. It will give a false result for marijuana.

Will hydrocodone test positive for narcotics in laboratory urine test?

Yes, Hydrocodone will test positive on a drug test for opiates and opiates are narcotics. If you have a drug test and you are being prescribed hydrocodone just take your bottle with you to the drug test and let the examiner see it . If you are not prescribed hydrocodone then you will fail the test.

Can you pass a drug test while taking dextromethorphine?

Yes. DXM is slightly related to opiates but not close enough to cause a positive drug screen. It is very unlikely for one drug to cause a false positive on a drug screen for any other substance. Drug screens test for metabolites of specific drugs. All drug tests have a rating based on specificity and sensitivity. The higher the sensitivity, the lower the specificity. Basically it is only possible to have a false positive by using another drug that is very chemically similar to the positive test.
