Taxes were implemented after the French-Indian War because it was only part of a greater conflict known as the Seven Year War which hurt England's economy because war is expensive. Since America at this point in history was a colony of England, it's sole purpose was to help England financially so England taxed them to help cure it's debt incurred from waging war for seven years.
