It is the day that we Americans celebrate our independence from Britain.
It applies to Americans today, because it tells us our natural rights, and how many things Britain has done and lastly our independence.
Independence Day, celebrates the Declaration of Independence of the United States from Great Britain in 1776.
Great Britain increased taxes on many items in the colonies.
You need to be more specific with your question.
Because Americans lived on the continent of NORTH AMERICA and were fighting the British who OWNED most of NORTH AMERICA...Americans were COLONIES of Great Britain. American COLONISTS wanted INDEPENDENCE from their British owners or leadership. Britain would NOT allow that independence, so the Colonists fought them for it.
They were bootleggers and bums that didnt want to pay their taxes.
