Because, when Germany wanted to kill all the Jews they could get their hands on, (aka "The Final Solution"), most countries shut their doors and would not let the Jews enter their nation, including the USA which only took about 1000 Jews to Fort Oswego NY. Since the world turned their backs on the Jews in their time of need, and 6 million were murdered, many wanted their old homeland in Israel open to them for the first time in 2000 years since the Romans exiled them from their land.
Zionists.
Zionism is the belief that the Jews should have political self-sovereignty and is the patriotic sentiment behind the Establishment of the State of Israel. It is not a physical thing to be "used". Most Jews are Zionists, but the majority of Zionists are non-Jews, mostly Christians, but there are some Muslim, Atheist, Hindu, and Buddhist Zionists.
They usually slander Jews as "Zionists" even though Zionism is simply a form of nationalism.
That's a lie spread by the Arabs. Zionists are people who want Jews to have their own state. Zionists never killed thousands of Palestinians, and never stole their land. Arabs just say that because they are brainwashed as little kids to do bad things to Jews.

Who Owns the newspapers, TVs etc, owns the country. While that may be true, it is not clear that Jews and Zionists have that control. In fact, there are lot of major media organizations that are critical of Israeli policies or Israeli perspectives. While there is certainly a large percentage of Jewish or Zionist owned media outlets, these outlets do not necessarily put out a pro-Zionist message, not to mention the large number of media outlets owned by non-Zionists or anti-Zionists.
