Why was Clemenceau dissatisfied with the Treaty of Versailles?

Because it greatly reduced German territory in Europe, all of their over seas property was seized, they were forced to pay damages to all the countries who fought the Germans, their military was greatly reduced, and to top it off they had no say in the matter even though these other countries are equally At Fault for that foolish the war. The financial and political withdrawal created by the war in Germany helped set the stage for nazism and World War 2. Also it left the whole German people extremly bitter towards the rest of the planet. Talk about shooting one self in the foot.

Germany was split in two and the winners demanded a lot of payments for the war (colonies, coal mines, money...) which Germany was, of course, unable to pay. Italy was expecting some benefits with joining the allies in the war, and the benefits were little. The new division of Europe was badly done, the same with the former possessions of the Ottoman Empire and the former colonies losers. So, the allies were demanding too much from the not-winners which create unhappiness between the population who make right-wing dictatorships possible.

Germany did not surrender in WW1, they signed an Armistice, a cease fire. After that they were forced to sign the Treaty of Versailles which placed the entire blame for the war on Germany and made them pay massive reparations.

Italy and Japan weren't dissatisfied- the treaty didn't affect them because they were part of the Allied Powers who won the war. Italy was somewhat unhappy with the Treaty of Saint-Germain, because that treaty awarded them land that used to belong to Austria, but Italians had been hoping for more.

Germany was dissatisfied because they were forced to take the blame for starting the war, and pay huge amounts of money to the winning countries. But they felt it wasn't fair because the German Army hadn't actually lost the war- they were losing, but they were still fighting.
