Because we are a free country and many people want to live a free life. So, these people are immigrants because they move from their home country to another. That is why there is so many different cultures and so many people from differentbackgrounds That is what makes the US so special and that is what makes everyone of us unique.
Migrants - unlike immigrants, who move from one country to settle in another - are people who migrate from place to place not putting down roots. Just like immigrants they can be from anywhere and move to anywhere they are not one nationality of people. So, in answer, migrants can live anywhere but not permanantly.xx
People have many different reasons to live where they are living. Some immigrants are desperate people who want to live anywhere other than the place that they are forced to leave (by war, famine, political repression, etc.). Other immigrants want to join relatives they have who have immigrated before them. Others want to join a community of people having the same ethnicity or religion as they do. Others have some specific career in mind which requires them to be in a certain place. Some people choose a location based on climate, or scenery, or availability of their favorite type of recreational activity, etc.
Depends on where the person who's asking is. In their original country they'll be called Emigrants and on the foreign country they'll be called Immigrants.
