  • Many Americans were scared of communism (otherwise known as the Red Scare). They feared socialists and communists would eventually take over the world. So one reason for introducing immigration was to keep out all communism.

  • Also Americans felt their country was too full, so intended to keep all other people out.

  • In case you want another reason, Americans wanted to keep their country ''pure American'', so didn't want other nationalities killing this.

There are very, very few US citizens who want to stopImmigration. Many of us want to put an end to illegalimmigration. We are a nation of immigrants; we all have immigrant backgrounds. Immigration is and always has beena good thing. But people shouldn't think that you can become a US citizen just by entering the country. There aren't many nations on earth where citizenship is open to anyone who simply arrives there.

Because most immigrants get free health care when the rest of us Americans must pay for ours and they don't have to pay some of the taxes we do.
