Because they were looking for a quicker path to the east side of the Old World (Asia), so that they could trade spices, foods, and clothings. However, when they left from Europe, they found a "New World" in between the two, and they were curious to see what was on the land. They founded the 13 colonies, and made friends/enemies with the Native Americans (Enemies: Wars, diseases, buildings demolished, lives lost. Friends: Trading food, clothing, spices, and information about each other. They also celebrated religous holidays as a group.)
