Many Blacks migrated during the 1920's, or Roaring Twenties, because many Jim Crow Laws were still restricting them in the South. They moved because there was great opportunity for jobs and education during this time because of such prosperity in America.
Many Blacks settled in a place known as Harlem, a Negro community in New York. Here, the Harlem Renaissance took place and saw the rise of Jazz Music and many writers of the time that would shape American Literature forever.
