The Bible requires that Jewish slaves be freed on the Sabatical year (every 7th year). See Deuteronomy 15:12. So, it could be argued that this biblical law applies to Christians. Many Christians hold that the moral laws of the Old Testament apply to Christians, while the ritual laws do not, and this seems to be a moral law. So, if you convert your slave to Christianity, does this obligate you to free them after 7 years of service? In Medieval Europe, most slaves were slavs (that is where the English word comes from). One reason Slavs were used as slaves is because they were not Christians, and therefore it was OK to enslave them. That kind of reasoning continued to be applied as the African slave trade developed.
Slaves in the year 1831 had become christians as their masters were christians.
if they did not practice there religion they would torture them
Only smug self righteous Christians think free thinkers are satan's slaves. Belief in a religion is pure slavery.
yes. he also promised the king and queen to turn the slaves into christians.
That would depend on which slaves, since slaves could come from a number of countries. It wouold depend on which Pharaoh too, since Egypt itself had the occasional change of beliefs.
The culture of the colonies aged many slaves to become Christians---> Apex
The slaves within the boundaries of the Roman empire had the same religion as the Roman citizens. Slavery was a social class, and the lowest on the ladder. Therefore, being a social class, they would have been influenced culturally the same way as citizens. Slaves were not citizens, but followed what the citizens did. The religion of the Roman empire was paganism, therefore the slaves were as well pagans. The only exception would be people from distant lands who were captured and forced to be slaves; in Asia Minor there would have been Christians and Jews, and those religions spread to the Roman empire; people of all social standings--from slaves to aristocrats--would have converted. But, basically, what I'm trying to say, is that the slaves themselves did not have their own religion.
no
Slaves usually did not have a say in their religion. Slaves that came from present day Angola and brought by the Portugese were baptized into Christian Religion on the ship.
It would depend on whether the slaves were Christians.
The true religion of slaves varies depending on the individual, as slaves come from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. Historically, slaves in different parts of the world have practiced a range of religions, including Christianity, Islam, traditional African religions, and others. Religion can provide comfort and hope in difficult circumstances, and many slaves have turned to their faith for strength and resilience.
Originally, European slaves consisted mostly of Slavs, where the word is derived from. The pope of the Catholic Church around the time decided that using Christians as slaves was not a good thing, most of the Slavic slaves being Christians. So, Africa was homed in on as an easy place to get slaves with no Christians.
