According to the book "The Brethren" by Bob Woodward and Scott Armstrong, copyrighted 1979, Fortas had accepted a $20,000. fee from a foundation that a Louis Wolfson controlled. Later it was discovered that it was not to be a on-time payment, but that Fortas would be paid that sum every year till he died and then to his widow till her death. Wolfson started bragging that his friend Fortas was going to use his influence on the court to help in a Securitues and Exchange Commission investigation that involved Wolfson. Wolfson was convicted in the SEC investigation and Fortas returned the $20,000. When this became public, it looked so improper that he had to resign even though there was never any proof that Fortas had done anything to help Wolfson.

Supreme Justice with Judge Karen - 2013 The Pastor Quit Fired for Fluff 1-13 was released on: USA: 2013
The US Supreme Court (Judicial) and the houses of Congress (Legislative) are in two separate branches of the government; no one can occupy more than one office at a time. If you are asking about how long a Supreme Court justice remains on the bench, however, the commission is for a lifetime. Justices serve until they die, resign, retire or are impeached. For more information, see Related Questions, below.
There is no set term of office. According to the Constitution, "The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour," which means that they are appointed for life, until they voluntarily retire, or die, or are impeached. No Supreme Court justice has ever been impeached; some retire, but more die in office. There are proposals that SC justices should be appointed to fixed terms; this would require a Constitutional amendment, of course. The most common suggestion is for each Justice to serve for 18 years; with the current SC of 9 justices (this number can be changed by Congress) this would bring one retirement and one new justice every 2 years.
No!
They do not serve terms. Once appointed, they are there until they retire, resign, die or (highly unlikely) are impeached and convicted. State supreme courts often impose term limits on their supreme court justices; however, the number and length of terms vary by state. For more information, see Related Questions, below.

If you are talking about Arthur Miller's The Crucible, Reverend Hale denounced and quit the court because he no longer agreed with what they were doing. He realized that the court's motives and strategies for weeding out Salem's "witches" were unjust, and wanted nothing to do with the process. He was truly courageous in standing up for what he believed in.
No, not if the quit claim was a legal transfer under the BK laws. If it was not an allowable transfer the BK trustee/court may dismiss the quit claim and the property may be subject to BK action.
At the end of act 3 Hale denounced the proceedings and quit the court.
