The British declared war on Germany during World War I because Germany violated Belgian neutrality by invading Belgium in August 1914, which was seen as a threat to British interests and potential aggression towards Britain. In World War II, the British declared war on Germany after Germany invaded Poland in September 1939, triggering Britain's declaration of war to honor their commitment to defend Poland's sovereignty.

What date did Germany declare war on the US?

If you mean in WWII then this is what I have got. Germany did not actually declare war on the Americans. When the Japanese bombed Perl Harbour in America the Americans wanted to declare war on the Japanese but the British persuaded the Americans that it was the Germans that started it and so the Americans declared war on the Germans and any other army with them including the Japanese on 11th December 1941. Hope that helps! =)

This question was put into the categories of World War 1 and World War 2. The answer is that the US did not declare war in either war for the reason that the Germans threatened to sink all ships in British waters. World War 1: President Wilson chose to declare war on Germany in World War 1 when he learned from the Mexican Government that the Germans wanted to attack the US through the US borders and Gulf of Mexico. World War 2: President Roosevelt declared war after the Japanese bombed the US Naval ships and planes in Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. They became officially involved in the European Theater of Operation once Hitler declared war on the USA.
