Why did the British impose new taxes on the colonies after the French and Indian War?
A. The colonies had not been paying taxes for years. B. The British felt that the colonies should pay for the protection they received during and after the war. C. The British owed France for damage caused during the war and needed colonial help. D. The British needed the money to fund further colonization efforts in South America.
The Stamp Act was passed by the British government in 1765,and it was a way to impose taxation on the American colonies. The colonies declined to pay taxes to Britain, and subsequent resistance to taxation and British authority triggered the American Revolution.

I am guessing that you mean the war debt from the French and Indian War (Seven Years War) which ended in 1763. This debt was the reason the British tried to impose taxes on their American colonies in ways they never had before, beginning the train of events that led to the Revolution. The fact was that most of the troops fighting for the British cause in America during the French and Indian War were colonists, raised and equipped at the expense of the colonies. The colonists thus thought they had ALREADY been taxed to pay the costs of the war, and that the war in North America would not have been won without their participation as soldiers. The result of the war was the complete expulsion of the French from North America and vast new territories for Great Britain, including the entire massive province of Quebec. To now present the colonies with a bill for additional costs of the war seemed greedy and ungrateful.

impose revenue taxes on the colonies
The British had just fought a war with France, in the French and Indian war. They were in debt. They reasoned that if they defend the colonies from the French and Indians, then maybe we should help pay a little of the debt. Did you know that citizens in England ALWAYS paid more taxes than the colonists?
Yes, and that is why England made the Sugar Act, Stamp Act etc. To impose higher taxes to help pay for the French and Indian War.
The taxes were to help pay for the French and Indian war. They reasoned that they were protecting the colonists and the colonists were English subjects so they should help pay for the war.
Britain imposed new taxes on the American colonists in order to pay for the French and Indian War (also known as the Seven years war.) The British government felt that because the war was fought to protect the colonies, they should pay for some of the war.

The reason the British taxed the Colonists after the French and Indian War was they were in debt from the war because they spent so much money on it.They had went into debt after the war because they ued all there money for it(most). They had to get the money and they believed they should tax the colonists because they were the ones who were protecting them(the colonies). I think the first tax was the Stamp Act. Then the quartering act that forced the colonists to feed and house the troops........
