The Industrial Revolution was mostly a change from making goods by hand to making them by machine. So, the poor people that had those jobs where more unlikely to be replaced by those machines. Therefore they lost their jobs, which caused them to become homeless and live on the street. Also, at that time immigrants we're also flooding into the United States, so they could have also replaced them.

The changes that industrialization brought about for the poor city dwellers included unsafe working environment, and health problems for the poor city dwellers.
