The allies failed to open a second front fast enough for the soviets
The U.S. did not tell the soviets that they were developing an atomic bomb
The U.S. cancelled the lend lease to the USSR right after the war ended while the soviets were still desperate for the aid
First of that, the question itself, 'why did the U.S.S.R. hate the U.S.' is a shallow remark. There was tension and mistrust on BOTh sides, and for good reasons too. Both nations, the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. emerged from World War II as superpowers, advanced in technology, military, cultural impact, economy, etc. The main striking point between the two nations was that each of the world's superpowers had an ideology: the U.S. supported capitalism, while the U.S.S.R. advocated communism. The Cold War wasn't so much a typical war where factions fight over land or resources, but influence. Both factions grew tense over each other's growing power and influence in the world, and both assembled expensive and advanced defense technology, tried to influence other nations to join their alliance, and ultimately triumph. Most of the fighting done in the Cold War was with proxies, such as in Southeast Asia. It is biased and narrow-minded to state that the U.S. was in a glorified or justified position, and to state that the U.S.S.R. was an evil minded structure that wanted to destroy the world. The Cold War was a war of ideology. Short answer it was fear the U.S.A was generally stronger than the U.S.S.R plus the Soviet Union was to put it bluntly a f**ked up socialist cancerous mass on the world, America may have had it's flaws but at least they world supressing religion, free markets and basic rights.
US intervened with troops to help the white side in the Civil War until 1920.
Then the US deported people with public communist sympathies.
The early communist leaders believed in "the international", that all countries would be "liberated from capitalism" as a natural progress when the working class got enough power. Stalin was more focussed on concentrating power to his elite, having an empire with puppet states.
There was a fear of US support to anti-communist forces in various countries.
The US tried to develop advanced weapons, e.g. the Manhattan project, secret from the Russians. however spies on both sides revealed mutual suspicion and also had informed Stalin thoroughly about the progress with the new bomb.
When Stalin put a blockade on Berlin, trying to increase his hegemony, the US engagement to support Germany made clear that US was ready to sacrifice to limit Stalin's imperialist expansion.
There was high tension between the two countries
