NA raids, poor locations( they choose bad locations to settle in... they were isolated from the outside world and sometimes they settle in NA territory), and Spain was PAYING for the missions so if they don't show much success then they are likely to be abondoned.

From what i know, The indians in east texas did not need want the missions provided, they did not want religious instruction, and epidemics of disease cuased tension between them. There might be more info, but this is all i have
