The Boston Harbor was closed on March 31, 1774. It was closed due to King George III speech made on March 7, 1774.
Because the colonists in America thought the tax on tea was too high so they dumped alot of tea in the harbor which made the king angry so he closed the harbor

The Boston Massacre
Charles town was a "suburb" of Boston so when they came into Boston after the Boston Tea Party and closed the harbor it was just a matter of troops taking over. Boston was in a siege state and this would continue for months. It got so bad in Boston that the people were burning church pews to keep warm when winter hit. The British held Charelstown that was largely in ruins and Bunker Hill with 11,000 troops in the area. In the harbor off Long Wharf were 3 ships of the line with 50 guns or more. The main concentration of American troops were at Prospect Hill and gunpowder was low. Little gunpowder was made in the colonies and there was only enough for about 9 rounds per man. One report states that the "sound of British shells overhead was like the flock of geese."
Because of the Boston Tea Party.

the british dead!
American troops is surrounded by Boston harbor
Nothing could get in or out of the Boston harbor. The colonist were not able to smuggle tea from Holland.
Gen. William Howe ferried his troops across the Boston harbor. It took the British nearly six hours to organize the assault and ferry their men across Boston Harbor, but were held up by the lack of boats.
The siege of Boston ended with the British troops evacuating the city. They had to wait in Boston Harbor for a number of days for the wind to be favorable enough to set sail out of the Harbor.
It was an attempt to reimpose british control
The acts were the coercive acts
Britain did send warships and troops to block the Boston Harbor in 1768 because King George the Third wanted the patronism to stop in Boston because there were murders breaking out such as the Boston Massacre.
The King closed the harbor because of the Boston tea party. One observer watched the British man of war ships come into the harbor and commented that “ there were so many it looked like London was arriving.” The king sent over 2000 troops into Boston.
