In the revolutionary war, many colonists looked at Canada as the 14th colony, and that it should be part of the US. Canadians, however, refused.
The British were taxing the colonists for tea and other necessities unfairly. They also would not let the colonists be represented in Britain.

The British government was angry at the colonists, who did not want to pay for their own defense.
They seized them. or in other words took them away from them.
The Quartering Act caused tension between the troops and the colonists. The colonists didn't want to have the troops invade their homes but the reason they were even their was to enforce the Townshend Act.
