the legislative branch. or maybe the powers of the big states versus the powers of the small states.it determined that the legislative branch would be split into two houses. The House of Representatives was created to please the large states and give them power. The Senate was created to please the small states and give them power.

Large states
The United States government is split into 3 different parts. This includes the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch. The Executive Branch consists of the President, Vice President, and 15 cabinet departments. The Legislative Branch consists of members of congress. The Judicial Branch consists of the Supreme Court and small federal courts.
The small states were not against ratification. The small states were the ones who stood to benefit most, so they were in favor of it.
My guess would be taxes
Individual members of Congress certainly are, but the structure of the legislative branch is such that it's not really possible for it to favor one state over another. Since members of congress are elected by their congressional districts, and individual senators are elected by the citizens of their state, it's natural that these members would favor their own constituencies over others. The states are given representation proportionate to their populations in the Congress, but each state has two representatives in the Senate regardless of population -- this is intended to make sure there's enough representation for citizens of a large state while citizens of small states aren't drowned out.
Both Large and small states.
In the United States the legislative branch represents the individual States that elect Representatives the Washington DC. This branch is divided into two separate organizations. The House of Representatives and the Senate are the two branches of the legislative branch.
The Great Compromise settled the method of representation in the legislative branch (the US Congress). Small states wanted equal representation (equality by state), and large states wanted representation based on population (equality by vote). Under the compromise, all states were represented equally in the Senate. This made the smaller states happy. In the House of Representatives, representation was based on population. This pleased the bigger states.
