The New Deal policies did not end the Depression and the poor class in America continued to be poor but a positive accomplishment of the New Deal was to ease the economic hardships suffered by the poor class. They were included in the New Deal agencies that provided relief, economic aid, and jobs. As the war in Europe threatened America, many found work in the industries and factories creating material to sell to Europe or to increase the military might of the US. The poor also gained by the achievements of such programs as aid to agriculture, rural electrification, Social Security, protection of labor unions, bank regulation, and stricter control over the economy by government.

The attitudes of the American people toward Roosevelt's "New Deal" were mixed. Since it was a program for redistributing wealth, the middle and lower class people liked the New Deal a lot. However, the upper class, wealthy aristocrats did not like it at all. It was meant to be a reshuffling of the cards, and then allowing everyone to continue operating within a free market system. But, the middle and lower class seemed to expect more than Roosevelt could constitutionally provide, or even than he intended.
