Why did the maritimes suffer economically after the end of World War I?

Because during the period directly following World War 1, the economic benefit that the Maritimes had seen from the war-time production levels, and the military programs the federal government was running in the maritimes to repair ships and what not came to an end. Since the maritime provinces no longer enjoyed increased transfer payments for war-time production programs, or protective tariffs on its manufactured goods, it was at an economic disadvantage to central Canada and Quebec. The federal government at the time had absolutely no intention fo building up the maritimes, and used the ensuing feminist movement to prepare and implement war time powers acts that would allow the government to pass things into law without the approval of parliament if they can prove it is for the war efforts, which lead the way to a new outlook for the federal government post ww1. they no longer cared, or had to follow to a certain extent what every canadian said, and that is reflected in their actions in the coming decades.
