NO, they didn't have horses until the spaniard brought them, But they did have dogs. :)

They didn't try to go to America. During the ice age, there was a land bridge from what is now Alaska, to Asia. The Natives followed wherever the mammoths went. They did that because the mammoths follow their food. If the mammoths have food, then they have something to hunt for. So the mammoths traveled on the land bridge, along with the Natives, and finally to America. Well... that's at least what scientists think.
