Although many viking raids were for items (money, valuable items) the norsemen also settled places because they had their own politics, and expanding populations. After the Roman Empire fell, creating a powe vaccuum, the former kingdoms in England and Scotland were weak (from fighting Rome). There were also empty lands since long wars with England killed many thousands of people. Norse who wanted to settle new lands chose this time because they could (no powerful kiingdome to stop them) and because the area was accessible from their homeland.

The Vikings attacked Britain because they were looking for a different land to take over and farm on because their land wasn't to good!Their population was growing and they didn't have enough room for everyone to live, so with England being a bigger country they would have enough room for everyone and enough room to farm on.
