The RUF rebels often raided villages for food or for the hell of it. People weree killed and children captured. These children had no option but to stay with the rebels and after time were brainwashed and became members of the rebel groups. The children were used as manual labour, often to fetch water or do other chores for the rebels. The girls were used as sex slaves and the boys were trained as combatants, mostly under the influence of drugs. They were also used as human shields, as soldiers will hesitate to kill the kids, who were not so reluctant to kill the soldiers.

You can't invade a civil war, civil means it's within the country. So it was the country's government vs. rebels.
the civil War was because the Sierra Leone government wanted blood diamonds so he made all the people in his country dig all day to find diamonds that's why it started government wanted diamonds so he could sale it and make money)
